FAQ

What is a Halal certificate?

Akova Group was among the first companies in BiH to meet the requirements of halal standards and acquire the conditions for obtaining halal certificate. Halal certification does not only mean a halal approach to slaughtering of an animal. The halal standard is a much broader concept, which, among other things, has very strict requirements regarding animal welfare, production process hygiene, food safety, quality of feed, and the way animals are treated. The essence of halal certification is based on making and placing on the market a product that will not contain substances that can be harmful to human health, and at the same time incorporates the halal principle of slaughtering animals whose meat is part of the product. In addition to having a halal certificate for slaughtering animals and the finished product, our group also has a halal certificate for the feed, which means that the process of halal certification in our Group has been fully completed and that we adhere to the halal standard from farm to fork. Our Group has its own feed factory, where our experts pay great attention to the quality of feed for the chickens raised on our farms, which necessarily reflects on the quality of the final product, in this case chicken meat. In the production of animal feed, quality of cereals added to the feed is a top priority. High-quality soybean oil is added as a source of energy, all ingredients are free of genetically modified organisms, and each ingredient is of purely plant origin. No ingredients of animal origin are allowed in halal certification, and we do not use any.
